Crypto’s Biggest Senate Critic Is About to Run the Committee That Writes Its Rules

Elizabeth Warren has spent the past year writing letters that federal regulators were free to ignore, and she is about to run the committee that decides which crypto bills move. Earlier this year, she asked the OCC to pause World Liberty Financial’s trust bank application until Trump divested from the company, and in August the agency granted the application preliminary conditional approval anyway. Democrats won control of the Senate on November 3, so Warren, the Banking Committee’s top Democrat, is set to move up to chair when the new Congress convenes in January.
