Meanwhile, the group’s previous investments in cryptocurrency and fintech companies have drawn attention to its wider financial exposure. CreditEase has warned of possible insolvency after suspending investment product redemptions amid major repayment gaps. Previous investments in Circle and Matrixport link CreditEase to crypto, although police have not implicated those holdings.
