Costco Posts $30 Billion September Sales as Comparable Sales Rise 11.4%

Costco Wholesale reported $30.02 billion in net sales for its five-week retail month ended Oct. 4, with comparable sales up 11.4% and digitally enabled sales up 19%. Net sales were 13.0% higher than the $26.58 billion recorded in the year-earlier period. Comparable sales increased 11.4% as reported and 7.6% after excluding the effects of gasoline prices and foreign exchange. Digitally enabled sales rose 19.0% during the month. The monthly sales period followed Costco’s 16-week fiscal fourth quarter, which ended Aug. 30. Net sales for that quarter totaled $93.9 billion, up 11.2% year over year.
