Coinbase Vendor Incident Exposes The Weak Link Behind Private Keys

Coinbase says its systems were not breached, but a security incident at analytics provider Amplitude exposed contact information tied to a subset of the exchange’s customers, renewing concern over phishing risks in the crypto sector. Figures circulating on October 28 claimed that more than 70,000 users were affected. Coinbase has not confirmed that figure, describing the affected population only as a small subset of customers and attributing the exposure to its third-party vendor rather than an intrusion into Coinbase’s own infrastructure.
