Coinbase Eyes Equity, Commodity and Pre-IPO Perpetual Futures

Coinbase is considering perpetual futures tied to equities, commodities and pre-IPO companies as it broadens its derivatives lineup, while seeking to unlock liquidity from existing institutional holdings, Luuk said. Limited fresh capital is entering crypto options, Luuk said. Coinbase is focused on improving capital efficiency and widening access for U.S. traders. Demand has exceeded expectations in some areas of the planned product mix and fallen short in others, he said. Luuk also described options positioning as modestly bullish.
