Coinbase Bitcoin Premium Shows Diverging Signals Across Exchanges

Bitcoin (BTC) demand signals varied across exchange comparisons in October, with Coinbase showing a discount against Binance and OKX but near parity with other dollar-based venues. The Coinbase Premium Index stood at -0.056% against Binance on Oct. 7. On Oct. 12, Coinbase traded at a 0.1332% discount against Binance and OKX. A separate comparison on Oct. 12 showed Coinbase at a 0.0013% premium against other dollar-based exchanges. The differing results underscore how the choice of comparison venues and trading pairs can change the reading. The index measures the percentage difference between Bitcoin’s price on Coinbase and prices on another exchange.
