China’s Clean-Tech Exports Could Avoid 450 Million Metric Tons of CO2 a Year

China’s 2026 clean-energy exports could avoid about 450 million metric tons of carbon dioxide outside China each year after deployment, a modeled reduction roughly matching Brazil’s annual fossil-fuel emissions. The projection covers solar and wind equipment, batteries and electric vehicles. It projects fourth-quarter shipments from year-over-year growth recorded in the first nine months of 2026, so the full-year emissions figure remains a projection rather than a tally of observed reductions. The projected annual reduction is nearly 2% of emissions outside China. The comparison with Brazil gives the estimate a national benchmark for a single year of avoided carbon emissions.
