Chainalysis has attributed a $6.4 billion Binance hack to North Korea, adding a named suspect to a security incident that has left withdrawals suspended and billions of dollars in crypto frozen onchain. Binance estimates the impact at $6.3 billion and says about $3 billion has been frozen onchain. The $6.4 billion figure associated with Chainalysis’ attribution and Binance’s impact estimate are separate assessments; the frozen total describes assets locked onchain rather than the incident’s full impact. Tether has separately said it froze more than $1.567 billion in USDT connected to the suspected Binance hack.
