BNB Chain Plans New Layer 1 Blockchain With No Separate Token

TLDR BNB Chain plans a new Layer 1 network that will run alongside BNB Smart Chain without a separate token. The network targets 200-millisecond blocks and transaction pre-confirmation in about 20 milliseconds. An internal devnet is running, with a public testnet planned for late 2026 and mainnet in early 2027. BNB will remain the gas, staking and governance asset, linked through a native bridge still in development. Binance founder Changpeng Zhao responded with “Multiple chains, one coins.” BNB Chain has outlined plans for a new high-performance Layer 1 blockchain that will run next to BNB Smart Chain.
