Bitcoin (BTC) open interest rose 2.17% to $7.79 billion in an Oct. 19 snapshot, leading five crypto assets while positive funding rates meant long positions paid shorts across the group. The reading was taken at 7:07 p.m. ET (23:07 UTC). BTC’s mark price was $82,008, and its funding rate was 0.0099% every eight hours, or 10.8% annualized. Long accounts made up 62.3% of the total. Open interest measures the value of outstanding derivatives contracts. It does not, by itself, show whether traders expect prices to rise or fall: every contract has a buyer and a seller.
