An account using the name The Bitcoin Historian claimed Wednesday that Riot Platforms sold more than 8,900 Bitcoin (BTC), a sale valued in the post at more than $700 million. The account also put Riot's remaining Bitcoin balance at 2,418 BTC and characterized the sale as more than 78% of the company's total holdings. Those numbers describe both sides of the reported change: a BTC amount sold and a BTC balance left afterward. The dollar figure is the account's valuation of the claimed sale, while the percentage compares that amount with Riot's holdings.
