Bitcoin saw a brief surge to $84,000 early Wednesday before quickly retracing, ending the session down 0.5% at around $83,200. Price action remains confined between significant technical markers: a 50-day moving average close to $81,000 and resistance at the $84,000 level. The 50-day moving average, which represents the average of bitcoin’s closing prices across the previous 50 days, is widely monitored by traders to gauge the medium-term trend. The average provided support again on Tuesday as bitcoin dipped toward $81,000 but buyers have struggled to maintain any sustained breakout above $84,000.
