Bitcoin (BTC) Transaction Count Climbs as SegWit Packs Blocks

Bitcoin (BTC) averaged 700,000 to 800,000 confirmed transactions a day in October 2026, but the activity mix suggests the increase may reflect more efficient use of block space rather than a comparable rise in demand. The daily average was about 372,000 in January 2025. In October 2026, blocks were about 98% full and averaged roughly 1.5 megabytes. The average fee per transaction in late October 2026 was about $0.32. Payments under 0.01 BTC made up about 80% of network activity. SegWit discounts witness data in some transactions; BTC amount alone does not establish transaction data size.
