Bill Morgan Criticizes Ripple’s XRP (XRP) Escrow Re-Locking Policy

Lawyer Bill Morgan criticized Ripple’s XRP (XRP) escrow practice in a Nov. 1 post, arguing the company could have distributed unused monthly releases instead of returning them to escrow. Morgan pointed to Ripple’s December 2017 setup, which placed 55 billion XRP into 55 contracts. Each contract held 1 billion XRP. He argued Ripple could have distributed each monthly allocation rather than re-locking unused tokens. Monthly expirations began in January 2018, with releases capped at 1 billion XRP. That cap set the maximum potential supply entering circulation each month; it did not commit Ripple to distribute the full amount.
