Baidu plans to disclose research progress and results for a world model soon, with autonomous driving a possible priority application, although the model’s exact use has not been confirmed. A world model primarily models and predicts physical environments. In self-driving systems, applying the model could improve prediction and decision-making in complex situations, potentially supporting scaled commercialization of driverless vehicles. Baidu’s robotaxi service operates in 28 cities worldwide and has accumulated real-road data. The company also works in embodied AI and has provided services to more than 50 businesses.
