Apple is seeking to overturn a $5.7 billion patent verdict in favor of Taction Technology, arguing that the damages award lacks evidentiary support and that the patents are invalid. A federal jury in San Diego found that haptic technology in iPhones and Apple Watches infringed two Taction patents covering vibration-based touch feedback. Taction sued Apple in 2021. The verdict followed a dispute over whether Apple’s devices used technology covered by Taction’s patents. Apple has said its Taptic Engine differs from the patented technology. The award is not final.
