Anthropic President Calls AI Romantic Partners a ‘Terrible Use’

Anthropic President Daniela Amodei called AI romantic partners “a terrible use of AI,” arguing the technology should free people to spend more time together as OpenAI expands ads in ChatGPT. In an interview released Oct. 22, Amodei said AI girlfriends and boyfriends could further distance people from one another. She connected that concern to her view of social media, saying it had “largely been used to disintermediate humans from one another.” She pointed to messaging and online arguments as digital exchanges that can take the place of meeting people and building local communities.
