Anthropic Opens AI Safety Residency With $350,000 to $500,000 Annualized Pay

Anthropic opened applications for a paid AI safety research residency, offering experienced technical workers placements of up to six months and considering applicants without machine-learning backgrounds, doctorates or published papers. The program offers annualized compensation of $350,000 to $500,000, prorated for the placement’s duration. Applicants have until Nov. 22 to apply, and Anthropic expects to send offers in January 2027. Research areas include AI safety and alignment, scalable oversight, interpretability, AI security and red-teaming, machine-learning systems, and reinforcement learning. Residents will receive mentorship and access to Claude models and GPU computing.
