Anthropic IPO plans have drawn attention to a large financial commitment: nearly $900 billion in spending on computing infrastructure, data centers and energy. The figure appears in the company’s October 26 registration filing and highlights the scale of investment required to develop and operate advanced artificial intelligence systems for customers. The company behind Claude reported $117.5 billion in liabilities and $112 billion in cash in figures cited in filing coverage. Yet those balance sheet totals do not capture every future payment. Contractual purchase agreements and leases, including facilities not yet operating, reveal a much larger long-term financial obligation for investors.
