Anthropic IPO Filing Flags Open-Source License Risks From AI Code

Anthropic’s proposed IPO filing warns that code from its AI tools could reproduce open-source software, creating license obligations that may require disclosure or licensing of proprietary code. The Oct. 26 Form S-1 proposes listing Anthropic’s Class A common stock on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the ticker ANT. The preliminary prospectus leaves the number of shares and offering price blank. It says the shares cannot be sold until the registration statement takes effect. Anthropic’s use of tools such as Claude Code could lead AI-generated code to incorporate or reproduce open-source software.
