Anthropic Confirms Claude Code Rule Against Recreating Existing Games

Anthropic staff member Addy Osmani said Friday, Oct. 30, that Claude Code’s Opus 5.5 instructions include a two-sentence safeguard to steer the model away from reproducing a particular existing title. “Original games, genre games, and games built from your own designs and assets are meant to keep working,” Osmani wrote. Anthropic confirmed the change in its coding product. The confirmation follows TokenPost’s earlier coverage of a Claude Code configuration that instructed the model not to recreate specific existing games . Osmani’s confirmation did not specify how the instruction applies to ports, mashups or authorized game projects.
