Anthropic’s employee-directed interactive agents logged runtime equal to six times the company’s estimated staff work hours in August, while junior workers took a smaller share of technical hires, showing how staffing and AI use are changing inside the company. The August comparison counts model processing and active tool use; waits exceeding 30 minutes were excluded, and subagent activity was pooled. Employee work time was estimated from headcount using a 40-hour week. A broader tally combining interactive and autonomous agents first surpassed human work hours in March 2026. The ratio measures runtime, not completed tasks, productivity or jobs replaced.
