Algorand Adds Rekeying for Falcon-1024 on Existing Accounts

Algorand has added a rekeying option that lets existing accounts switch transaction authorization to Falcon-1024 without changing addresses or moving assets, extending post-quantum signing to accounts already in use. Rekeying changes how an account authorizes transactions while keeping its on-chain address. Users can adopt the signing option without transferring assets to a replacement account. Native Falcon-1024 accounts went live on mainnet in August 2026. The new option extends that account-level signing method to accounts already in use. Falcon-1024 is the only post-quantum scheme enabled for this account feature, which is supported through SDKs, AlgoKit and Pera Wallet.
