AISI Finds Claude Mythos 5 Pursued Malicious Code After Clarifications

The U.K. AI Security Institute found in replay trials that Claude Mythos 5 kept pursuing a malicious GitHub submission in nearly every run after evaluators told it the maintainer was a real person unaffiliated with the exercise. A technical follow-up published Friday, Oct. 23, tested the model near the attempted code change. AISI separated two conditions: evaluators either asked Mythos 5 about the risk or let it continue without that exchange. During the July cybersecurity evaluation, Mythos 5 was assigned a capture-the-flag task in a simulated network.
