AEP and X-energy to Study 960 MW Indiana Nuclear Project

American Electric Power (AEP) and X-energy will study a proposed 960 MW Indiana nuclear plant, with Amazon funding development and planning to buy power if the project is built. Plans call for 12 Xe-100 small modular reactors, each rated at 80 MW, near the former Breed Generating Station in Sullivan County. The retired coal plant site is owned by AEP. The proposal remains in the feasibility stage. If it advances through a final investment decision and reaches construction and operation, Amazon intends to purchase electricity under a long-term contract.
