About 600,000 Nvidia H200 artificial intelligence chips were waiting in Hong Kong for shipment to mainland China, amid separate U.S. export and Chinese import hurdles. Chinese approval for large-volume H200 imports remained pending. Some H200 chips entered mainland China in recent months through intermediaries and indirect routes. Several major Chinese internet firms each obtained about 10,000 H200 chips in recent months. During the fiscal second quarter ended July 26, 2026, U.S. licenses covered H200 shipments to specific customers in China. Chinese government restrictions limited those sales, and Nvidia shipped only a fraction of the allowed units.
