On October 22, 2026, the firm unveiled a16z Frontier , the successor to a16z Crypto, along with a broader mandate to back what it calls “frontier startups.” Crypto has not been left at the door. The fund says it will keep investing in blockchain projects and keep pushing on regulatory advocacy. It is simply adding more rooms to the house. The timing comes with a thesis attached.
