3M’s board approved up to $6 billion in additional share repurchases on Nov. 3, lifting the company’s available buyback capacity to $7.5 billion and expanding its capital-return authorization for shareholders. The new authorization adds to $1.5 billion remaining under the program approved in 2025. The board set no preset end date for the authorization. The $7.5 billion figure is the total available capacity, including the newly approved $6 billion and the amount left from the earlier program. The authorization does not specify a share count or purchase schedule.
